| Three militants involved in killing of SHO Chadoora arrested, hunt on for 4 others | | Lal Chowk, adjacent areas observe shutdown; minor clashes break out | | Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Jan 21: Police claimed to have arrested three militants of the militant module that was responsible for the killing of Station House Officer (SHO) Chadoora, Shabir Ahmad in December last year. A shopkeeper of Chadoora had also got killed in the firing of militants. Addressing a press conference, SSP Budgam, Mohammad Irshad said that the investigations carried out by the police in the killing of SHO Chadoora on December 2, 2013 led to the conclusion that the attack was carried out by the militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). The SSP said that the group was active in the Budgam district and carried out attack on SHO after proper planning. Three militants identified as Ashiq Hussain Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool, Reyaz Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Rasool residents of Panzan and Basharat Ahmad Mir son of Late Abdul Khaliq resident of Munpapay were arrested for orchestrating the attack on SHO. Their fourth accomplice identified as Umar alias Zahid got killed in an encounter in the Hushroo village with police and 53 Rashtriya Rifles on December 25, 2013," said the SSP. The SSP said that during the questioning of arrested militants it came to the fore that four more persons namely Mohammad Yousuf Lone son of Sanaullah Lone resident of Gadoora-Pulwama, Abdul Hamid Malik son of Ali Mohammad Malik resident of Raipora-Chadoora, Manzoor Ahmad Najar son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Panzan-Chadoora and Lateef Ahmad Rather alias Abu Muslim son of Habibullah resident of Badipora, Chadoora were part of the conspiracy. "The conspiracy was hatched in the third week of November, 2013 by LeT Divisional Commander Qasim, Basharat Ahmad Mir alias Ustad Umar, Lateef Ahmad Rather, Reyaz Ahmad Dar, Umar resident of Pakistan and an unidentified person. Acting upon this conspiracy recce was carried out twice. Finally on December 2, 2013 attack was carried out by Umar, Basharat, Reyaz and Ashiq," said the SSP. The SSP said that while Ashiq, Reyaz and Basharat have been arrested by the police manhunt has been launched to arrest the others namely Mohammad Yousuf, Abdul Hamid, Manzoor Ahmad and Lateef Ahmad. He said inputs received suggest that Mohammad Yousuf and Lateef Ahmad are absconding. "The investigations have revealed that the arrested militants were also involved in a variety of conventional criminal acts ranging from extortion to murder cases to NDPS cases. Besides, Basharat, Ashiq, Yousuf and Hamid have also been found involved in duping innocent persons to provide them government jobs in lieu of money. They also used militants to silence the people who were demanding money back," said the SSP. |
