Sumit Sharma JAMMU, Jan 21: 199 women employees feel unsafe as two JU teachers (a Professor and a Lecturer) have been indicted for sexual harassment of women employee in the premises of the Jammu University and its Ramnagar Campus as well, but amazingly even after lapse of one year the Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH), constituted by JU authorities on the guidelines of Supreme Court, to probe the allegations has yet to give its findings. The complaints of sexual harassment were lodged against the duo by the women employees of the JU. The JU authorities received two separate complaints, one from the Law Department and Ramnagar Campus against male staffers. In the complaints the complainants had alleging that they were being sexually harassed by the male employees. The male employees who were accused of sexual harassment have been identified as Professor Kulwant Singh, Head, Department of Law, University of Jammu and Ajay Sharma, Lecturer of Sociology, Ramnagar Campus. Based on the complaints, the minutes of the meeting of the CASH in the Committee Room of the Vice Chancellor's Secretariat was chalked out and accordingly CASH under the Chairmanship of Professor Satnam Kour, Department of English, was constituted for probe. The CASH comprised of, Professor M.K Dhar, Scholar of Bio-Technology, Professor Mubarrak Singh, Deptt of English, Nidhi Kaila, Department of Law, Gaurav Sharma, Department of Law (both PG students), Dr. Saran Preet Kour Broca, Assistant Registrar (Exam), Anuradha Sharma, Professional Assistant, Professor Mubarak Singh, Deptt of Education, Dr Shashi Manhas, Associate Professor, Deptt of Home Science, Professor Anita Soodan, Principal Government Degree College, R.S pura, Professor Ved Ghai, Representative of an NGO, Prof J.P.S Jooral, President (JUTA), Sunil Sahi, President (JUNTEU), Romesh Khajuria, President (JUOF), Krishan Lal Sharma, President (JUNGEA) and Rakesh Chib, President (JURSEA). The committee has to submit its findings but even after elapse of one year, the findings yet to be disclosed and submitted the same to the VC JU for further disposal. Meanwhile, sources in JU said that the delay is caused due to Professor Vaid Ghai as she refused to attend the proceedings at the later stage. Sources further maintained that the meeting in this connection was held on Tuesday as a part of probe. |
