New Delhi, Nov 2: Big matches have clashes within clashes. The 168th Manchester Derby, which kicks off in few minutes time has its share of duels too. Considered one of the fiercest rivals, both the Manchester clubs carry a grudge or two within themselves and it will be played out, or rather displayed for public viewing today.
But when Manchester United host City at the hallowed Old Trafford, two Argentine players are sure to make it out in the field of play, what they have so far failed to settle an off the field issue. Involving a girlfriend!
Ahead of the high octane build up to the derby match, both the players have thrown in their share of antics, giving the clash altogether a new proposition to their fans spread over entire footballing world. It's learnt that Argentine World Cup players, Sergio Aguero and Marcos Rojo have kept their mutual disliking even after the Brazil World Cup.
What happened was, the duo had a massive row during the World Cup, when Rojo invited an ex-boyfriend of Aguero's new girlfriend Karina Tejeda into the team's dressing room. La Albiceleste were celebrating their hard-fought win over Nigeria, when Tejeda's ex, Ezequiel "el Polaco" Cwirkaluk joined the team. Reportedly, the Manchester City front-man had to be dragged away from the Argentine pop-star.
In the latest flare-up, Aguero reportedly pulled out of a kids' football session on Friday in the East Manchester district of Ardwick because Rojo was a part of it too. The session was a part of the Premier League Kicks initiative, which helps youngsters in disadvantaged areas of the community through the power of football and general sports participation.
Aguero became a Citizen in 2011 from La Liga side Atletico Madrid and has since helped his club win two Premier League titles in 2012 and 2014, besides a League Cup and a Community Shield trophy. Rojo, after a memorable World Cup in Brazil, joined United this season from Portuguese outfit Sporting.
And about the match, the United defender was quoted as saying he will mark Aguero in the match "with a degree of firmness." |
