Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 2 : Two senior political stalwarts Ajatshatru Singh and Sheikh Abdul Rehman, a former member Parliament are ready to join the saffron brigade soon. The duo has almost made their mind to join the Bhartiya Janta Party and will contest assembly elections in the state. Ajatshatru Singh will be fielded either against Sham Lal Sharma who is contesting from Akhnoor or against Devinder Singh Rana who are contesting from Nagrota on Congress and national conference tickets respectively. EarlyTtimes in its previous edition had mentioned that Ajatshatru may join saffron brigade and the preparation is in full swing at Hari Niwas palace. Some national level leaders are also expected to join. It is pertinent to mention here that Ajatshatru has unsuccessfully contested assembly election against BJP candidate in 2008 election on NC ticket and was made member of legislative council. For some time, Ajatshatru was not active and was interested to contest again from Nagrota constituency but NC didn't give him the mandate and put its provincial president and former advisor to chief minister, Devinder Singh Rana to contest from Nagrota.
Dr. Karan Singh the father of Ajatshatru Singh is a Rajya Sabha member and Congress leader, his brother Vikramaditya has recently joined People Democratic Party and now, if sources are to be believed, Ajatshatru Singh is all set to join the Saffron brigade. On the other hand, Sheikh Abdul Rehman, Samajwadi party senior leader and former member Parliament has also decided to join the BJP y and will be fielded against Congress leader and sitting MLA from Inderwal GM Saroori as per sources. Shiekh Abdul Rehman is a senior politician and has a substantial base and support in Chenab valley. He is being considered as a potential candidate against Saroori. Recently Darakhshan Andrabi and RS Pathania from SDP and Congress joined BJP and Pathania may be fielded against Panthers Harsh dev Singh from Ramnagar, as per sources available.
