Cong interested in alliance with PDP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 3 : Congress is exploring possibilities of a tie up with the Peoples Democratic Party and feelers in this regard have been sent to the PDP leadership. Congress feels it could still manage enough seats to become indispensable in the government formation. The party leadership is of the view that it can reach the figure it had held last time-17 seats- or at the worst could manage a position close to it. The party leadership has decided that its experience with the NC was not politically good. It feels because of the alleged 'incompetence' and arrogant behavior of the Omar Abdullah it had to pay heavy price in the elections. "Omar has been our biggest mistake. The party high command should have insisted on rotational chief minister agreement which could have helped us. He had done much more damage to the Congress than to himself," said a senior Congress leader. The party feels that even though PDP's graph is on ascendency, post floods the situation has changed for the PDP and it would be not getting much of the seat as it might have been expecting. The Congress is also reckoning the fact that it would be politically too immature to write off the NC more so when voter turnout is likely to be low and which could help the NC, as it has happened in the past. In this emerging political game PDP would be looking for a partner and except Congress it could not go with any. "In the past Mufti had an agreement with the Congress when the BJP was in power in the Centre. This time also it could not be ruled out" said the Congress leader. However, the party this time the party will insist on rotations CM. |
