Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 2: On the eve of Kaal Bhairav Ashtami, which falls on November 15, a bhandara would be held at the holy and most reverred temple of Bhagwan Bhairav at Chowk Chabutra here on November 15.
The bhandara is the only religious event of its kind in the City of Temples in which thousands of people, irrespective of caste, colour and creed, participate. Like every year, the road stretch from Chowk Chabutra to Panjtirthi police post would be tastefully decorated and illuminated.
Temple mahant Romil Sharma said this year, the businessmen associations of Pucca Danga and Moti Bazar had also consented to decorate their markets to make the bhandara a mega event. Stalls are put every year on the Chowk Chabutra-Panjtirthi police post road stretch for the devotees and others who come to the temple on the bhandara day to seek the blessings of the Alimighty. Romil said breakfast and lunch would be given to the devotees on the occasion. He requested the people of Jammu and outside areas to take part in the bhandara.
" Pooja and havan will be performed at the temple of Kaal Bhairav Ashtami on Nov 14-15", said Sharma and added that Bhagwan Bhairav is the fifth Rudra of Bhagwan Shiv and had descended on the earth in the shape of a "Light" in Sumeru mountains. At Chowk Chabutra, Bhairav is in the form of a natural pindi, he informed.
Romil also clarified that Bhagwan Bhairav is not the Bhairo, whose temple is in Bhairo Valley close to the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi. Bhairo, a supreme tantrik, was the disciple of Guru Gorakh Nath, he added.
