Woman alleges gang rape | Names naib-sarpanch, 2 others as accused | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Nov 2 : A woman today approached Rajouri police with a complaint that she was allegedly raped by a naib-sarpanch and two other persons in Srinagar where she was taken by one of them to solemnise marriage with her. The woman, a mother of three children, was divorced by her first husband Bashir Ahmed of Uddan, Budhal, a few months back. Acting on the complaint, police have registered a case against the accused under sections 376, 343, 109 and 366 of RPC and started investigation. After her divorce, the woman took a room on rent in Bela Colony, Rajouri City, where Zakir Hussain of Tulibana, Mahore, used to visit her frequently. On October 24 last, he came to the woman at Bela Colony along with his friends – naib-sarpanch Mohammad Sharief and Khadim Hussain, both residents of Tulibana, Mahore, police sources said. He asked her to accompany him to Srinagar for marriage with him. He told her that Sharief and Khadim were also accompanying them for standing witness to their marriage, the sources added. Unaware of the conspiracy, the woman accompanied them to Srinagar where all the three committed gang rape on her, she alleged in her complaint. On October 31, she managed to escape from Srinagar and reached Rajouri. On Sunday, she lodged a complaint against the accused at Rajouri police station. Rajouri police station SHO Yash Pal Singh said a police team had been constituted to apprehend the accused. |
