PDD plays hide & seek | Implements un-announced curtailment schedule | | Shakeel A Khan Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Nov 2: The curtailment schedule has been virtually implemented in the valley without being brought into the notice of the general public as the Power Development department seems to be following a hidden agenda. The strength of the PDD seems to have given answers much earlier this year as it has failed to provide the power supply even for the scheduled hours. The PDD has begun to play the game of hide and seek. It appears the new tactics of the PDD so that they have not to face the wrath of the people. On account of this most parts of the valley remain in the tight grip of the darkness and in many parts the situation has become alarming. The authorities waste no time in dropping the electricity bills at the doorsteps of the people but when it comes to the services of the PDD, it has let down the people and it has become a cause of concern for the people of the valley especially for those who are living in the non-metered areas. "It is in the knowledge of everybody that Power development department is a failure in the valley but nobody had imagined that it will fail so early this year as it has begun to give us trouble since the department has failed to ensure the supply even for the scheduled time," said Bashir Ahmad from Bemina Srinagar. Bashir said that the PDD has begun to plunge the areas, including the one where he lives, into the darkness shortly after the sun goes behind the mountains despite fact the department hasn't come with a curtailment schedule for the winter season. As per Bashir, all this is being done so that employees of don't have to face the fury of the flood affected people because it is the only department whose role is analysed during the winters. People of the valley say that it would be better if the department comes out with a curtailment schedule so that people remain aware and don't face inconveniences. As per these people the department has failed in the month of October and only the God knows what the people have to see in the dead of the winter. |
