Jammu, Dec 23: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today released a special number of 'Sheeraza Hindi', a tribute to Late Prof. O.P Gupt (prominent Hindi Poet, intellectual, scholar and critic) in a release function held in K.L Saigal Hall Jammu on his 1st death anniversary. Prof. P.N Trisal, renowned Hindi linguistic, intellectual and scholar presided over while Shantmanu IAS Divisional Commissioner Jammu was the Chief Guest. K.G Gupta, former Principal, Govt. Polytechnic College, Jammu and younger brother of Late Prof. O.P Gupt, Haroon Rashid, Secretary and Dr. Arvinder Singh, Additional Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also on the presidium. Delivering his presidential address, Prof. P.N Trisal complemented J&K Cultural Academy for bringing out special issue of Sheeraza Hindi "A tribute to Late Prof. O.P Gupt" on the eve of his first death anniversary. While speaking about the literature written by Prof. O.P Gupt, he said that Prof. Gupt very scholarly succeeded in transforming the philosophy of classics of Hindu mythology into the next generation in general and youth in particular. Remembering his association with Prof. Gupt since 1965, he said that Prof. Gupt was committed and dedicated for the overall development of Hindi Language and Literature and it was due to all his efforts that Yuva Hindi Lehak Sang not only established in Jammu but also regularly involved in organising literary activities since the day first in Jammu. Shantmanu IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu speaking on the occasion appreciated and congratulated for making it possible to bring out the special issue of Sheeraza Hindi as a tribute to Prof. O.P Gupt, a legend of Hindi literature. He underlined the importance of such personalities who always mark as guidelines for the coming generations and also a source of encouragement for the scholars. He expressed his satisfaction that the Academy is doing excellent work in the field of Art, culture and languages. Prof. Nirmal Vinod, prominent poet, scholar and intellectual presented a review paper on the special issue of Sheeraza Hindi which was highly appreciated. Earlier, welcoming the gathering, Haroon Rashid highlighted the J&K cultural Academy and said that such activities to be undertaken in the whole of the state and even at the national level. He sought the co-operation of all so that J&K Cultural Academy could organise these activities in a planned way. He complemented editor Hindi for timely publishing the special issue of Sheeraza Hindi and also thanked all the contributors who contributed in the form of articles, interview and memories as a tribute for the said issue. Padamshree Prof. Ved Ghai and K.G. Gupta also spoke on the occasion and paid tributes to Prof. O.P Gupt. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Azra Choudhary, Editor Hindi and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Arvinder Singh, Additional Secretary. Among others were present include Prof. Parmeshwari Sharma, HOD P.G Department of Hindi, Prof Neelam Saraf, Prof. Veena Gupta, Prof. Ram Partap, Prof. Raj kumar, Dr. Om Goswami, Dr. Anju Thapa, Sunil Sharma, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr Aruna, Yogita Yadav, Neeru Sharma, Sham Talib, Kazmi, Hussain of Anjuman-e-Farog-e-Urdu, Chand Deepika, Shakunt Deepmala, Kumar-e-Bharti, Sheikh Mohd. Kalyan, Chandu Bhau, Sunita Bhadwal, Farooq Anwar Mirza, family members, writers, poets, artists of various languages of the region and prominent citizens. |
