'Mufti has to take call in the interest of secularism of state: Azad | Congress baits PDP, sings in Mufti's praise | | Javaid Naikoo ET Report srinagar, Dec 23: With PDP emerging as single largest party and looking for alliance partner to form next government in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress while baiting PDP said that, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has to take call in the interest of secularism of the state. Talking to reporters, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad after calling People's Democratic Party (PDP) patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as a seasoned leader and his party leadership as a mature lobby said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has to take the call and decide whether the government should be formed with secular or communal forces in Jammu and Kashmir. "Finally call has to be taken by the PDP, they have to decide if they want to go with secular or communal forces, we known PDP and BJP have been opposing each other tooth and nail in this election at many a times, now PDP has to take the call and decide solely," said Ghulam Nabi Azad. Azad while praising PDP leadership for the first time said that, PDP has a very mature leadership and they know what is good and what is bad for people of Jammu and Kashmir and added that he is not going to dictate PDP what to do as Mufti is a seasoned leader, so only he has to take the call in the interest of his own party and in the interest of secularism of the state largely. Earlier in the day, PDP almost sweeped from South Kashmir and won most of the seats of Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam Districts including the all important seat of PDP's Chief Ministerial candidate, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed from Anantnag assembly constituency in Jammu and Kashmir. PDP also won seats from NC bastions Srinagar and won Sonawar, Amira Kadal, Zadibal, Batamaloo and Hazratbal besides PDP candidates also defeated renowned politicians of Kashmir division like Ghulam Hassan Mir and Abdul Raheem Rather and Mustafa Kamaal in their constituencies. Pertinently out of the total 87 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP won 25 seats, People's Democratic Party ( PDP) 28, National Conference (NC) 15 and Congress 12. |
