PDP looking for an alliance partner ready to endorse Party's CMP | Govt formation may take time: Mehbooba | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 23: Indicating to form consensus with political parties on Common Minimum Programme before choosing and alliance partner, PDP today said that any party ready to endorse Common Minimum Programme of PDP will be their alliance partner in upcoming government. After emerging as the largest party with 28 seats out of total 87 mark of state Legislative Assembly, People's Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti in a press conference here today said that her party is not in a hurry to form government for the sake forming government and added that PDP would deliberate in detail on the issue of choosing an alliance partner before making it public officially. "We want governance based on our agenda and Common Minimum Programme, we are not in a hurry, we are looking for it, we need to deliberate and form a consensus on issues related with it, and we will do whatever would be in the best interest of people of Jammu and Kashmir," said PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti PDP president said that 'since PDP emerged as the largest party with 28 seats but mandate is not decisive at all, not even up to the expectations of PDP leadership and added that but since PDP has to form government so they are not in a hurry this time at all. She said that PDP is committed to form government based on the agenda set by PDP already and her party don't want to form government for the sake of forming government and added that PDP this time wants good governance so it will take time for them. "People voted against NC and Congress, we have a Common Minimum Programme which worked for PDP in 2002, keeping in view that era of governance and expectations of people from PDP we are looking for alliance, we are in the process of exploring, we will do whatever is in the interest and best for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, we want deliver," added Mehbooba. She thanked people of Jammu and Kashmir for voting in favour of PDP candidates and she thanked state administration, central government and also Election Commission for India for conducting free and fair elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Pertinently as PDP could not get full majority to form its own government, party leadership is in a chaotic situation to choose an alliance partner in between National Conference with 15 seats, Congress 12 seat and BJP which is second largest party with 25 seats. Earlier, today PDP spokesman Nayeem Akhter told reporters that 'trends emerging are showing that PDP will not be forming a government on their own, so it is a difficult situation for his party to choose an alliance partner and added that there were ideological differences between BJP and PDP but he would not comment on a possible alliance with the party as yet. |
