DB passes directives in plea for 'compensation for landmine survivors' 12/24/2014 12:41:59 AM Jammu,Dec 23 (JNF): In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking compensation for LoC mine blast victims, a Division Bench (DB) of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today directed Deputy Commissioner Poonch and Union of India to file latest status report regarding compensation. After hearing Adv Irfan Khan for the PIL whereas AAG Ravinder Sharma appearing for the state whereas ASGI Sindu Sharma appearing for the Union of India directed Deputy Commissioner Poonch and Union of India to file latest status report regarding compensation. Today when this PIL came-up for hearing, Division Bench observed that as per Order dated 26/11/2014 asking Deputy Commissioner Poonch to file the latest status report has not been complied with. AAG Ravinder Sharma stated that the Deputy Commissioner Poonch has sought exemption from personal appearance for today and he is likely to file the latest status report by December 12. Division Bench further observed that status report on behalf of Union of India in terms of order dated 26/11/2014 has also not been filed and directed that the needful be done before the next date of hearing by specifying as to why nine cases mentioned in which the DC Poonch has sent nine cases for payment of ex-gratia compensation to the victims, have not been decided.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
