Traffic jams routine affair on Janipura-Ambphalla road
12/24/2014 12:42:21 AM
MOHD IRFAN

JAMMU, Dec 23 : Traffic jams are a routine affair on the Janipura-Ambphalla road and now with the shifting of Durbar Move offices to the winter capital city, this problem has become more serious.
At any given time, one can find long traffic jams on this road stretch. While vehicle operators face problems, traffic police personnel are seen nowhere to regulate the traffic but they can be seen relaxing on the nearby BC Road. There is strong resentment among locals against the traffic police failure to regulate traffic on this road.Due to these traffic jams, a lot of inconvenience is caused to commoners. Minibuses too add to the already exisiting traffic mess. These stop in the middle of the road to drop and pick commuters but traffic police personnel do not book their operators for violating the traffic norms. They watch this traffic violation as a mute spectator. All, including office goers, students, advocates and businessmen, are facing the heat of this traffic and even a PIL has also been filed in the court of law in this regard.
Tha traffic police personnel regulate traffic only when there is a VIP movement. To decongest traffic, the government has also mooted the proposal of constructing a flyover in the area but it remains on papers only. SSP, traffic police, Mohan Lal claimed that there were traffic police personnel to regulate traffic on the Janipura road. A senior traffic police officer, pleading anonymity, expressed his helplessness to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the road and said it mostly turns out to be a nightmarish experience to drive on this road".In response to a question, he said, "We are making our best efforts to regulate the traffic but the vehicles are in a very large number and their operators don't follow the prescribed norms. The traffic would become smooth after the proposed flyover is constructed".
