JKSAC stages protest, demand release of package for refugees | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 4: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) today staged protest demonstration at Chatha Chowk Gadigarh, R.S Pura Road. The protesters were demanding immediate release of Rs. 2000 crore package announced twice by hon'ble Prime Minister for DP's of 1947 from POK and other categories and also urged upon the govt. to prepare a comprehensive road map for the resolution of DP's issue taking into account the Joint Parliamentary Committee report on Home Affairs. Addressing the large number of protestors, Gurdev Singh President JKSAC strongly criticused both State and Central Govt. for their lackadisical approach not to follow the package and simultaneously its release as the announcement of package is completing the period of one year on 7-11-2016. He regretted that despite the lapse of one year period no concrete efforts have been made by State govt. to get the package sanctioned. It is learnt from the reliable sources that the file processed for the release of funds is still pending in the North Block at New Delhi. He said the package lacks clarity as it is missing many significant components particularly reservation or employment package for DP's wards. Both the govt. have been represented many times to clarify the status and nature of so called one-time relief package. The criminal silence of govt. in this regard is becoming a cause of resentment among DP's. He said that it clearly indicates non-serious attitude of the govt. toward the DP's who are the first victims of Pakistani aggression in 1947, still awaiting the mitigation of their legitimate issues and sufferings for non of their fault. He further said that during past these seventy years DP's have not been given any kind of concession / compensation by the govt. except the allotment of few kanals of land / plot / quarter to rural and urban categories of DP's. The govt. deducted the cost of land out of ex-gratia grant provided in 1962-63 uniformly without taking into consideration the quantum of land allotted to each DP family. The other category of migrants who left valley in 1989-90 due to certain adverse social condition well in the presence of mighty Indian and State govt. are being doled out lavishly and package after package of employment have been provided to their wards besides many more other concessions. The valley migrants have suffered less amount of loss of lives and properties as compared to DP's of 1947 from POK. He said that we are not jealous of them but it is unfortunate that in case of DP's of 1947 from POK different yard sticks are applied when both the categories are possessing similar status in the state. It is not understood why the DP's of 1947 from POK are being discriminated? The DP's of 1947 are also the bonafide resident of the state who have been victimized by all the dispensations and their wards have been made to suffer from the last three generations and are now leaving the state along with their families under compulsion to earn their livelihood. He said that the space vacated by such migration is being occupied by anti-national elements under a hidden agenda. He said that it is a wakeup call and cautioned both the govt. to see writing on the wall, otherwise days are not far away when the govt. have to face and combat the valley like situation in Jammu also. He awared the DP's that they are not going to get anything while sitting at home and appealed them to come out on roads to struggle unitedly to get resolved their legitimate issue. "Balbir Singh Ajji" urged upon the govt. to simplify the procedure for issuance of PRC in DP's favour as per the PRC Act of 1963 and immediately computerized the record of DP's in PRO Office which is completely torn and in a bad shape as the DP's are facing harassment and have to take rounds to obtain the copies of their records. |
