JK BOSE to hold yet another examination in March 2017 | | | Jehangir Rashid
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 4: The Education Department of the state is hell bent on 'ruining' the future of students of 10th and 10+2 classes and same gets reflected with confusing announcements being made in this regard by the people at helm. Barely a day after Jammu & Kashmir State Board of School Education (JK BOSE) announced relaxation in syllabus for 10th and 10+2 students for the upcoming examinations, the examination authority came out with yet another announcement today. The latest statement from the Board authorities added to the already existing confusion among the students. The JK BOSE announced that students who do not want to appear in the examinations that are going to start from November 14 can appear in the examination in March 2017. The Board authorities said that the examination in March 2017 would be held for the entire syllabus and there would be no relaxation in the same. "One fails to understand what forces the JK BOSE authorities to come out with conflicting and contradictory announcements with regard to holding of examination for 10th and 10+2 classes. If they had announced relaxation in the syllabus what forced them to make the announcement that another examination would be held in March 2017," said Muzaffar Ahmad, a teacher. Like Muzaffar there are scores of students and teachers who opine that the education department has made the holding of examinations as a point of 'prestige'. These people say that it would be difficult for the students to appear in the examinations given the turbulent situation in Kashmir following the unrest that broke out across the valley on July 9. "The education department more so the JK BOSE authorities have got a message that not many students would appear in the examinations set to start after 10 days. It is due to this reason only that Board authorities announced that yet another examination for 10th and 10+2 would be held in March 2017. It would have been prudent for them to hold the examinations in March 2017 so that students could complete their syllabus by that time," said Altaf Ahmad, a teacher. While the 10th class examination is scheduled to start from November 15, the 10+2 examination is going to get underway from November 14. Thousands of students are going to appear in these examinations and most of these students are under tremendous stress since they have not completed their syllabus so far. This is despite the fact that examinations are just round the corner. |
