MHA asks Police, security agencies to tighten noose around separatists | Kashmir Unrest | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 4: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has reportedly asked the security agencies to keep a close watch over the activities of separatists and take stern action against them if they don't mend their ways. Sources told Early Times that a few separatists, including so-called JKLF Chief Yasin Malik and Hurriyat dove, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and a few aides of Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani were set free on a pre-condition that they would not add fuel to the fire. Insiders revealed that government was made to believe that once these separatists are out no more protest calendars would be issued and steps would be taken towards restoration of normalcy in Kashmir. "On the other hand separatists were told that track-II team would hold talks with them and the issues raised by them would be discussed threadbare," insiders claimed. They said, "Since the day separatists have been released they are acting like hardliners and are creating a notion that protests would continue and uncertainty would keep on prevailing. They seem to be in no mood to stop issuing the protest calendar." Sources said, "Recently intelligence agencies presented a report to MHA and mentioned that situation in Kashmir is once again taking an ugly turn as separatists are trying to regroup their henchmen to orchestrate street protests and start stone-pelting. The stone pelters have changed their strategy. They don't appear on streets during day time but as soon as the evening sets in they hide in dark corners and attack the private vehicles. During the past few days miscreants have damaged many vehicles in Srinagar city and in south Kashmir." It's in place to mention here a teenage boy, who was a group of stone pelters, was run over by a vehicle in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Wednesday when the stone pelters attacked the vehicle. On Thursday evening miscreants set ablaze an Auto Rickshaw near Al Sarwat Crossing near Mattan, while a woman was injured when some miscreants attacked private vehicles at Lal Chowk In Anantnag. Sources said that this all is being done to discourage people from coming out of their homes and to keep the pot boiling. Even in a few areas announcements are being made through public address systems asking people not to defy the protest calendar. "These activities have intensified since the day separatists have come out of the jails. They (separatists) have taken a U-turn and they are once again implementing the agenda of their bosses sitting across the Line of Control (LoC)." The MHA, according to the sources, has asked the Police and security agencies to tighten noose around the separatists and their agents so that situation doesn't take an ugly turn again. "If the separatists don't fall in the line they would be booked and arrested again," sources added. |
