`Problems of displaced Pandits compounded in BJP rule' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 4: Though expectations were high, the problems of Kashmiri Pandits have only compounded in BJP rule at Centre and PDP-BJP coalition in the State. According to sources all the hopes of displaced Pandits were dashed to the ground with the formation of this Government as all issues including their honourable and dignified return, implementation of PM package in letter and spirit and passage of Shrines Bill is hanging in balance. Sources said instead of taking steps for return and rehabilitation of Pandits in the Valley with honour and dignity as per their aspirations, the situation took such a critical turn in Kashmir. "Around 3000 employees working in Valley under PM package have also left Kashmir after breaking of violence in Valley after the killing of dreaded militant Burhan Wani on July 8 this year," they said. Sources said these employees are also reluctant to return to the Valley and join their duties there in view of the present unrest in Valley. The temples and shrines Bill which the BJP leadership had agreed to support in State Assembly have failed to get it tabled in the House though three Assembly sessions passed after the coalition came to power in the State. Sources said there are no chances in sight that the Bill may see the light of the day and Pandits aspirations are fulfilled in remaining period of coalition rule. Despite the efforts of Pandit organisations to settle the demand the coaliton is sleeping over the issue, sources said. In addition to it the promises made by the Modi government and the Union Home Minisitry to take initiative to fill up the remaining 3000 posts under PM package is also hanging in balance with Centre taking no steps in this regard. Under the package 3000 posts were to be filled up by State government by mobalising its own resources while remaining 3000 were borne by Union Government. However later the State Government disagreed to fill up the remaining 3000 posts saying it has no resources for the same and present Central Government in principle had agreed to bear the expenses for these 3000 posts also. However no steps were taken to complete the other formalities in this regard, Sources said instead of solving these issues with the coming of BJP-PDP coaltion to power in the State the Pandits were deprived of ration and for last four months they have not been provided the ration till date. Even the migrants were also deprived the ration of three months from Feburary to April this year. The Government later issued order to pay money in lieu of the ration for these three months but that too was not also done with the result there is lot of resentment among the displaced Pandits at present who accused BJP of remaining a silent spectator to their problems which have compounded under its rule. |
