Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 3: Closure of all education institutions for four months and recent spurt of torching schools has raised question mark on the credibility of the government still failing to reign in on disruptive forces dancing to the tunes of separatists. Sources said that education of the students is not the priority for those spearheading the so called freedom movement. " Now they wish to involve the students on large scale to project to the world community that everything is not well and situation is deteriorating fast in valley," they said. According to aggrieved parents, the children are in a great distress and fully dejected over devastation of education culture in Kashmir at the behest of few separatists leaders who are ruling the roast dictating their own terms to the state administration, which is making efforts to re-open educational institutions there. They say that separatists are feeling delighted and determined to bring misfortunes to the students in Kashmir pursuing their studies at different levels in school, colleges and universities. It was further added that this trend is bound to make serious impact and irreparable dent on the impressionable minds of students. As per seasoned members of civil society, the parents refute he claims of the separatists that students are also part of ongoing freedom agitating in Kashmir and they are setting on fire the infrastructure of education institutions to show their resentment against security forces and support to movement. Snubbing the allegations of Hurriyat leaders that students are involved in burning the schools, Shokat Bhat, retired educationist said that majority of young generation is studying in various education institutions including professional institutions in the valley. How come they themselves burn their schools when the students very well know that their future lies in getting educated, he said elaborating further that if these institutions remain shut for last four months, it can work as oil in the fire of unrest ultimately benefiting separatists to continue restlessness in valley, he rued. Riyaz Ahmed said that these separatists seem determined to keep kashmiri common youth away from receiving education making them illiterate and ignorant to judge and understand the nefarious designs of the separatists even as their own children are out of the scene of ongoing turmoil. Expressing sympathy with the innocent student community, a Kashmir watcher pointed out that elite groups in Kashmir fear backlash and retaliation from miscreants in case people openly oppose the ill designs of separatists due to lack of security and their safety. Saner section of society fervently appealed to all stakeholders that students are the pillars of the society as well as future of the state and atleast education of students should be kept much above the politics of maligning the academic career of students, who are in serious panic gradually penetrated in their minds for none of their fault. |
