Jammu, Nov 4 : Various political parties today condoled the sad demise of former deputy chief minister Pt. Mangat ram Sharma. Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and JKPCC Chief besides several other prominent Congress leaders, former MPs, former Ministers and Legislators were among the large number of people from all walks of life including leaders of different political parties who attended the last rites of former Dy. Chief Minister who was cremated at Shastri Nagar Cremation Ground today. Other prominent congress leaders who attended the last rites included Former MPs Madan Lal Sharma, Dharampal Sharma, Former Minister Sham Lal Sharma, Ex Dy. Chief Minister Tara Chand, Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram, CLP Leader N. Rigzin Jora, besides several senior functionaries of PCC, Legislators and Former Ministers besides other senior congress leaders. Earlier a condolence meeting was held at party HQ Shahidi Chowk Jammu which was presided over by JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir. Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha & AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad also attended besides a number of senior leaders of the PCC, DCC, Frontal organizations and block functionaries of Jammu participated. Ghulam Nabi Azad paid rich tributes to Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma and described him a pillar of secularism and humanism, who served the people of state and party irrespective of caste, creed, colour, religion and region. His doors were open for everyone who approached him for help. He recalled his long association of around 40 years with him during which Pt. Ji played a very important role in the politics of the state and congress party. He commanded great respect in all sections of the state because of his leadership qualities. Later all the senior leaders went to the residence of the late leader and laid party flag and floral wreaths on his body. Floral wreaths were also laid on behalf of Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi, AICC Vice President Sh. Rahul Gandhi and AICC general Secretary incharge J&K affairs Smt. Ambika Soni. Awami National Conference (ANC) has expressed deep grief over demise of Mangat Ram Sharma. ANC President, Begum Khalida Shah prayed for the peace to the departed soul and conveyed her sympathy to the bereaved family. A condolence meeting was held in Jammu to condole the sad demise of Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma. A two minutes silence was observed in the meeting and it was prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has condoled the demise of Pt Mangat Ram Sharma. According to press release, a condolence meeting was held in the central office of NCP which was presided over by Thakur Randhir Singh. A condolence resolution was passed and two minutes silence was observed in the memory of Sharma. Those who expressed grief and sorrow include G M Pal , Vice - President Resham Singh Jamwal , Former Regional Director, Min Of Labour Govt of India and Founder member INTUC ,Rattan Lal Dogra and others. |
