MIS price raised by Rs 2 per KG, Kashmiri growers to earn crores more
10/17/2019 10:34:14 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 17: While seemingly forgetting to even start similar schemes for fruit growers in Jammu, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has only boosted the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for procurement of apples in restive Kashmir by hiking the price for the procurement of the crop. The government has hiked the procurement of crop by around Rs 2 per various categories of apples meaning that the apple growers in Kashmir will make additional profits of hundreds of crores this season but at the "cost of the interests of Jammu." The box of apple weighing 18-21 Kg was purchased from growers at the rate of Rs 54, Rs 38, and Rs 15.75 per KG for ABC grades. But following appeals from the fruit growers the rate has been increased. The Rs 8,000 crore apple business is set to make more fortunes since the day the Jammu and Kashmir administration introduced the MIS for procurement of apples. On September 12, Governor SP Malik had launched the MIS for apple growers with administration saying that it would benefit the growers who were finding it hard to sell their crop...
