Encroachment by police officers, staffers of Housing Board | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 17: Taking serious note of the illegal structures built by the senior police officers, shopkeepers and the officials of the Housing Board, Managing Director Ram Pal today directed Deputy General Manager Housing Unit -1 to initiate eviction proceedings for removal of encroachment, where ever its exists. The MD took this tough decision under compulsion as lot of pressure was mounted on him after his office received complaints against illegal structures raised by gazetted officers of the Housing Board, senior police officers and shopkeepers in Channi Himmat Housing colony. The encroachment had attracted lot of attention in the recent days and series of complaints were received by the office of the Housing board. DGM Housing Board unit-1 also conducted an on the spot inspection of the illegal structures whereas Managing Director Rampal despite giving assurances to the complainants failed to turn up for carrying out spot inspection of the illegal structures. Large number of shopkeepers, police officers and even one of the AEE of the JK Housing board department had raised illegal concrete structures by unauthorisedly grabbing Housing board land. The deep rooted nexus between the Khilafwarzi wing of the department and the vested interest was flourishing in the area in lieu of some consideration. It, however, remains to be seen whether the words of the Managing Director would be converted in to deeds by the subordinate staff or they would succumb to the pulls and pressures of the powerful lobby of police officers and their own staff who have violated all norms before grabbing the land and raising illegal structures. |
