JAMMU, Oct 17: In a bizarre instance of contempt of court, a person who sought court's stay against construction building, reportedly has been disregarding status quo herself since May 2014.
According to court order, Anuradha Singh Jamwal wife of Kamal Nain Singh appealed in the court seeking stay against administration's action on her under construction building (Banquet Hall) at Barnai area. The court of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, on May 15, 2014 observed, "Till the objections are filed and considered, status quo as it exists today with regard to the property in question, shall be maintained."
Following, directions of Vice Chairperson of Jammu Development Authority (JDA) the Chief Khilafwarzi Officer paid visit to the spot on May 21, 2014 and found the work was going on in violation of court's order. "As per afore mentioned letter regarding sealing of the under construction building, in this connection, it is submitted that undersigned along with field staff had gone to seal the building Kagnra Fort at Barnai today, on May 21, 2014", the Chief Khilaffwarzi Officer, wrote Vice Chairperson under communication number JDA/CKO/Camp of dated 21, 5, 2014.
The officer further wrote that however on spot one of the representatives of the violator gave them a copy of the order of high court for maintaining status quo on spot. "Whereas it was found on spot that masonry, white washing, laying of sheets on hall, padding for plastering the building and shuttering works are going on clandestinely during odd hours", the official letter to the Vice Chairperson JDA read.
The Chief Khilaffwarzi Officer further wrote to the VC that stay seeker was herself violating order by continuing the work of construction. "Where as High court had ordered status quo, she (owner of the building) has been violating status quo", the letter added.
