Amid heavy vigil, IS flag surfaces again | BJP's President Rule demand gaining strength | | Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, Oct 17: Despite assurance of the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and tight security arrangements by security forces to thwart attempts and arrest the people involved, unidentified youth for the third today waved Islamic state (IS) flags in Kashmir after Friday Prayers. Despite heavy deployment of security forces around Jamia Masjid Area of Srinagar to thwart attempts of youth waving IS flags and arrest the people involved in waving IS flags time and again in the same area, reportedly some unidentified youth soon after Friday Prayers in Jamia Masjid with their masks on their faces once again waved IS flags in the same area for third time, followed by ding dong battles of Stone pelting between security forces and youth in some parts of Nowhatta area. Pertinently despite assurances of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah this is the third time that IS flags has surfaced in Srinagar and fresh incident in this regard happened four days after Omar Abdullah's statement in New Delhi in which he rubbished the reports that regarding appearance of IS in Jammu and Kashmir. On Tuesday while speaking to media persons in Delhi after his scheduled meeting with union cabinet Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah said that 'no IS group has been identified so far in the Kashmir, flag was waved by some foolish youth, it was reported by some TV channels which does not mean that IS has any presence in Jammu and Kashmir, some suspicious people were arrested by Police including one Tailor.' Pertinently soon after the statement of Omar Abdullah, General Officer Commanding of the Army's 15 Corps, Lieutenant General Subrata Saha has said that waving of IS flags in the Kashmir is a matter of concern and deserves the highest attention of the security agencies so that the valley youth are prevented from being lured into the ranks of jihadi organizations.' Repeated incidents are strengthening demand of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) to impose President rule in Jammu and Kahsmir to tackle the matter. Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swami on October 16 called for putting those elements behind bars who participated in unfurling of IS flags in Srinagar and impose President's rule along with Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Kashmir. "It does not require a PhD to come to a conclusion; if enemy's flag is hoisted by any Indian citizen then it is a serious matter." Swami told National Media Houses. He also said that Omar Abdullah has no business to say that some foolish youngsters have done this, as there is no such thing as foolish youngsters when it comes to betraying your country and added that 'time has come for Kashmir to be put under President's rule and the entire state being brought under (AFSPA). |
