Lawrence Public School celebrates National Education Day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 11: Commemorating the birth anniversary of MaulanaAbulKalam Azad, an eminent educationist, Lawrence Public School today celebrated National Education Day at School premises Panjtirthi&Sidhra. A symposium was held in the school premises in which students from all four houses participated. The program started with the lighting of the traditional lamp. Students in large numbers participated in the special assembly to celebrate the National Education Day and the speakers in the programme conferred upon in their speech about the laurels that Azad brought to the country by laying down the foundation of its educational policy and planning. Students spoke about the importance of National Education Day by referring it as "A befitting homage to one of our greatest leaders". Shivani Joshi, Principal of the School, while addressing the students said, "Azad was one of the prominent leaders in the country to support Hindu Muslim Unity and opposed partition of India". She also remarked that MaulanaAbulKalam Azad can rightly be assigned the title of "Builder of Modern India and Literacy". She said that Azad was broad minded and pioneer of Education system in India. She asserted the importance of such program and significance of education as a social development program and urged students to work against social evils and bring home the importance of education and social awareness. She remembered AllamaShibliNomani and Maulan Azad's work especially for the women and especially advised the students to read the books related to such personalities. A Large section of students and others were present in the programme. |
