Omar, Rana on ridiculous desperation to woo voters | Comedy of nervousness | | Mishu Gupta Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 11: Anxious, irritated and nervous, the National Conference cadre headed by its Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has started doing weird things to get public attention which is all likely to dent its image more than bringing any succor to its dying popularity in the state. In a rally held at Ramban where NC president and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah alongwith his close confidante Devender Singh Rana reached to address a weak gathering, the duo flanked Bharitya Janta Party turncoat Girdhari Lal Bhagat and sung praises in his favour terming his tallest stature in Ramban to get favourable votes for NC. The duo (Omar & Rana) went to an extent of saying that Girdhari Lal Bhagat was given mandate by Bhartiya Janta Party to contest from Ramban, but he refused to do so and joined NC to campaign for the NC candidate Chaman Lal. Welcoming Bhagat in the party fold, Omar expressed the hope that his joining will further strengthen National Conference at grass roots level. Meanwhile Bhagat also pledged his support to National Conference candidate Chaman Lal, saying he and his associates would work for ensuring his victory with a huge margin from the Ramban constituency. While the drama unfolded, the fact of the thing is that Bhartiya Janta Party never announced Grirdahri Lal Bhagat as its candidate as SC candidate Neelam Langeh got the BJP mandate to contest election from Ramban. "This shows the apparent desperation of NC which is fearing a total onslaught by the popularity graph of Bhartiya Janta Party that National Conference leader and present chief minister Omar Abdullah himself has stooped so low along with his mentor Rana that he is trying to convey wrong and superfluous messages among the masses to check its dipping reputation in the state," said one of the senior BJP leader while talking to early times, adding that such act of erroneous messages given by chief minister is all likely to harm him more and add to his packing of baggage from the state. |
