Early Times Report BANDIPORA, Nov 11: Ahead of the first phase of Assembly polls, police in north Kashmir's Baramulla and Bandipora district have started a crackdown against the stone-throwers Twenty-nine people have been detained to ensure peaceful polling in Bandipora in north Kashmir. On condition of anonymity Police sources said that the crackdown has been started to avoid 'law and order' problem in the district. From last week, around 12 youths - who are involved in stone-pelting - have been detained." "These youths would be kept under 'preventive custody' till polls are over. We don't want any breach of peace in the district," official said Official said the directions to launch crackdown against the 'stone-throwers' have come from top brass to ensure peaceful polls, adding the crackdown would continue in coming days. However Early Times learnt from reliable sources that on Tuesday, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Range, Abdul Gani Mir, visited Bandipora district to take stock of the situation with related to elections, where he has said nobody would be allowed to create 'any kind of disturbance' during polls. According to sources that twenty-nine people have been detained to ensure peaceful polling in Bandipora in north Kashmir today. Sources maintained that while speaking to media persons after reviewing security arrangements for the forthcoming assembly elections, Inspector General of Kashmir, A.G Mir, has said all arrangements have been made for "incident-free assembly elections". In order to ensure a peaceful atmosphere during the polls 29 persons have been taken into preventive detention in Bandipora. Everything possible under law shall be done Mir, has added that enough manpower and resources have been kept at the disposal of the district administrations for catering to the needs of the security for electioneering and elections. In a veiled threat to Hurriyat leadership who has asked people to boycott the polls, the IGP has said "message is loud and clear for every person that nobody shall be allowed to create any kind of disturbance.
