JAMMU, Nov 11: Jammu girls made their presence felt on the second day of the three-day inter-district state level athletics meet being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at BSF Stadium, here today. Jammu girls clinched six gold medals in three events decided in each category of under-19, under-17 and under-14 year. The valedictory of the ongoing athletics meet shall take place tomorrow at the same venue. Meanwhile, it has been reliably learnt that the boys and girls teams for the upcoming National School Games shall also be finalized tomorrow by the selection penal. J&K excels in National Dragon Boat meet Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 11: Jammu and Kashmir clinched five medals, including three gold, in the just concluded National Dragon Boat Championship held at Bilaspur in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh. While gold medals came in men's 500 meters, mixed 500 meters and men's 250 meters events, the state won bronze medals in men's 1000 meters and mixed 1000 meters races, a handout issued by the J&K Dragon Boat Association here today informed. Considering their performance in the nationals, the state dragon boat team has qualified for the forthcoming 35th National Games to be held in Kerela next year. In the meantime, general secretary of the Association, Farooq Ahmad, Muzafar Ahmed Shah and Shabir Ahmad Rather successfully attended the Grade-I International Dragon Boat technical course held under the guidance of chairman of the technical and competition committee of International Dragon Boat Federation, Mike Thomas. |
