Mufti seeks decisive mandate for changing peoples' destiny | | | Early Times Report
Anantnag, Nov 11: Seeking a strong and decisive mandate for his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today declared that his government would change the destiny of Jammu and Kashmir and its people during the next six years. He said PDP is now the only voice left in Jammu and Kashmir to represent its regional aspirations and safeguard its unique constitutional guarantees. "Give my party a decisive mandate in the upcoming assembly elections and I assure you that with the help of God the new government headed by PDP would mark a dawn of new hope for the State," Mufti said while addressing a massive public rally here. Mufti is seeking reelection from Anantnag assembly segment. He said there will be decisive movement forward on political, economic and developmental fronts transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a politically stable and economically prosperous state. " Mufti said the winds of change are today blowing across the state and in the coming days we will infuse new life into J&K's politics and economy. "No wonder PDP has become the first choice of the people as it symbolizes sincerity, hope, optimism, vision and a deep commitment to equality and justice," he said. Mufti said if elected his government would not only strive for the dignified resolution of the Kashmir issue, but would, as well, seek holistic solution of the politico-economic issues confronting Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing the rally, PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti complimented the PDP cadres for having successfully and effectively carried the party's political and economic agenda to the grassroots level. She said the PDP cadres sacrificed their personal interests for the larger objective of ensuring peace and dignity for the State and its people. "It is because of the untiring efforts of the PDP cadres that their party has today become a real people's movement across Jammu and Kashmir," she said. She said having suffered terribly during the past six years under NC-Congress anarchist regime, the people feel that they have had enough of it and want a relied regime under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to pull the State out of the morass. Muzaffar Hussain Beigh accused the successive NC Government's of having only brought death, destruction and darkness to the State. "NC has all along been thriving on political uncertainty and boycott politics and that's why whenever it came to power it has promoted the both," he said and added that NC facilitated secret execution of Muhammad Afzal Guru. Reminding Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of the promises made by him during 2008 Assembly elections, Beigh asked; "Where have the tall promises on Sadak, Paani, Bijli and Rozgar gone." He said besides addressing the issues of unemployment the NC had promised to bring a sigh of relief to Aam Adami battered by soaring prices of commodities. "The cost of LPG cylinders would be slashed by Rs 50 and the power tariff would also be lowered drastically besides ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to the people," he quoted Omar having said at an election rally in Ganderbal on November 21, 2008. PDP leaders Abdul RehmanVeeri, Abdul Gaffar Sofi, Mohammad Sartaj Madni, Peer Mohammad Hussain, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Farooq Indrabi, Abdul Rahim Rather, Abdul Majid Padroo; youth leaders, Imran Khaki, Imran Amin, Sofi Arafat, and others also addressed the rally. |
