"Demoralized" BJP leadership hesitating to organize Rajnath's public meeting in Jammu | | |
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 25: The fear-stricken BJP is undecided over organizing a "massive public rally" of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh who is visiting Jammu in connection with the nationwide celebrations on May 27 to mark one year of Narendra Modi Government at the Centre. BJP had announced to organise an "historic" rally of Rajnath Singh on May 27 at Jammu but after Coordination Committee on AIIMS called for shut-down on same day the BJP has been landed in a difficult situation. The out-spoken party and self pro-claimed pro-Jammu party leadership of BJP has been stunned because more and more organisations are coming forward to support Jammu Bandh call given by the Coordination Committee to greet Rajnath Singh. Publically BJP leadership is coming out with a brave face to counter those who have been bandh call, internally there is a feeling among leaders that anger brewing among residents of Jammu region after recent statement of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who had ruled out sanctioning AIIMS for Jammu region. When bandh call was given earlier on April 25 the over-confident BJP leadership had taunted those who had given the call but the people of Jammu region had given a warning to arrogant BJP leadership was successfully observing historic shut-down. Even the old city, which is strong-hold of BJP, observed complete shutdown. It was all due to experience of the April 25 bandh call that BJP failed to get guts to organise public meeting of Rajnath Singh in Jammu. Earlier the party had planned rally at Akhnoor but the same venue has been rejected due to fear of poor turn-out. Now the party is planning to hold rally in the city but none of the leader including ministers are ready to take responsibility. Credible sources in the BJP said that it was all due to the pressure of various socio, political and religious organisations of Jammu province that the party had so far decided to hold workers convention during visit of Rajnath Singh. Till date no public meeting has been planned so far. With in 88 days after formation of its government with PDP, the BJP finding it difficult to organise rally of its stalwart in Jammu, from where party had swept the poll. It is reflection of demoralization among party leadership. |
