Omar knew all about guru's execution: Congress exposes former CM
5/26/2015 11:59:30 AM

Srinagar, May 25: Congress has nailed the blatant lie the former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that Afzal Guru, the terrorists convicted by the Supreme Court for attack on Parliament, was hanged because of the political reasons.
The Congress has said he was hanged not only because he (Guru) had exhausted all the legal options but Omar Abdullah, being the CM had never made a mention to political reasons he is referring to now.
Omar Abdullah had on the day Afzal Guru was hanged said that the government didn't have role in his hanging as the state government didn't have jurisdiction on the matter.
The former Chief Minister, sources said, was informed much ahead of his hanging and he had even as per the then media reports said that Guru should be hanged during the Chila-Kalam period in the valley, as weather will help in tackling the possible law and order problem that could arise following the hanging.
The former CM didn't contradict this report and he also didn't make mention of it in his interaction with the journalists at Delhi.
Not only Omar Abdullah but even the top leadership of separatists including Syed Ali Shah Geelani and top leadership of the other mainstream parties were also informed.
"Days before his hanging all the top leaders of the separatists and even mainstream parties werein Delhi and hence the entire leadership of the state was in know of it and Omar now was playing to galleries for political reasons," said a senior official.
Official sources said that Omar in a desperation to find an issue to stoke disturbance in the valley ahead of the Amarnath Yatra.
"Omar by making such statement is trying to do exactly what the separatists do: Make situation hostile before the start of Amarnath yatra and then blame the BJP-PDP government for it as it will hit international headlines. NC has aptly done it before when they targeted former governor Jagmohan and now they want to gain political centre stage by dislodging BJP-PDP coalition and Congress as well" said a senior Congress leader.
