Akshay Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 8: It appears the technical staff engaged in the examination wing of University of Jammu has no knowledge of simple mathematics, due to which they have failed most of the students of BA Part 1, Semester II of Music and Fine Arts, despite the fact that they have got more than 100 marks out of 160. Aggrieved students of MAM College, of Part II, Semester-I informed Early Times that the University authorities had repeated the mistake it had committed in the previous semester. "As per standards, 100 marks of the subject comprise 30 marks (External Practical) +30 for internal practical+ 40 marks of theory. "The 40 marks of theory are further divided into 80 percent for External exam and 20 percent for internal assessment, but during previous semester, the University Examination wing had presumed 80 percent as 80 marks instead of considering 80 percent of 40 as 32 marks for external and 20 percent of 40, which is 8 marks for internal assessment", a student of BA Part II, semester -I, Kanav said. He said due to technical error on part of University authorities, the students have been getting marks out of 160 instead of 100. "I have got nearly 110 out of 160, but mentioned as fail in exams", he said, adding that in the internal assessment test, only few students would be given 7 or 8 marks out of 8. Another student said that in such situation, majority of students of Music and Fine Arts would be shown as disqualified in exams. "Nearly 35 students are in BA Part II and same number will be in Ist and Part III respectively in MAM College besides nearly 100 students in Gandhi Nagar college. The technical error on part of University authorities has been harassing the students", the students said. Castigating the varsity authorities, the students said that last year also majority of students were shown as fail due to blunder committed by University staff. "It was only after repeated rounds of the various wings of University, the University had mended the results way and reissued the marks cards", they said and appealed University authorities to do needful without any delay. Controller of Examination of JU, Sanjeev Mahajan said that he would only comment after getting details from subordinate staff. |
