| Kashmir polity decaying thick and fast | | Turncoats on prowl, no space for virtuous | | | Bashir Assad
Jammu, Jan 19: As most of the intelligentsia and virtuous people in Jammu and Kashmir, since last two decades, stayed away from politics conspicuously , political turncoats and criminals of all sorts have invaded the political arena.
As the elections to the State Assembly draw close, political turncoats have started shifting their loyalties and this time around about a hundred of political defaulters including some high profile bureaucrats have either changed loyalties or have joined the political parties as according to political commentators of Kashmir, politics is the only profitable profession of the contemporary times.
The trend of changing colours and joining politics by some people at the fag ends of their lives has of course changed the dynamics of politics in Kashmir. Though on one hand the political leaders of all the parties pledge to involve youth in political decision making internally and part of governance when in power, the fact remains that there is hardly any space for youngsters in these political parties.
At present six former bureaucrats inclu...

SRINAGAR, Jan 19: At a time when different investigation agencies are about to take action against 'pampered' beneficiaries under Roshni Act yet another scam under the Act has come to fore in the summer capital of state. All this has been done to give benefit to a business group so that they could avoid payment of stamp duty.
Evasion of stamp duty by people buying properties has become a norm in Kashmir and property worth crores has been seen as purchased by paying few lakh rupees and that too in the heart of summer capital of state. Later on the property is shown to be transferred under the Roshni Act with huge loss being suffered by state ex-chequer.

JAMMU, Jan 19: It is not only the ruling National Conference and the Congress which have been working in unison to harm the under developed Jammu by not creating sufficient administrative units needed to cater to its people and giving a preferential treatment to the already overdeveloped Kashmir. The Ganai report, which is being roundly condemned in Jammu by the suffering people, recommen...
