JAMMU, NOV 24: Chief Minister Mr Omar Abdullah has lauded the role of Indian Army in safeguarding the borders of country and rendering help and succour to the people during natural calamities and other disastrous situations.
The Chief Minister was inaugurating Balidan Sthambh (The Pillar of Sacrifice) on Tuesday which has been built by Indian Army here as a soldiers’ memorial to mainly honour those who made supreme sacrifice in wars and counter terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Yet, the memorial tower also signifies national integration and the time tested bonds between the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the Indian Armed Forces.

JAMMU, NOV 24 : About 2,000 to 2,500 militants of various outfits, including Taliban, are waiting in 42 odd training camps located along border with Pakistan for opportune time to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir, Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor said here today.

JAMMU, NOV: 24 Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s colleagues have been told to cut spending by carrying out only the bare minimum alterations in their houses. Mr Abdullah, who also is in charge of the Estates Department, recently asked the ministers to curb expenses.
He is reported to have set a limit of Rs 18 lakh for six years, meaning Rs 3 lakh per annum, for the ministers. It is another matter that some of them have already spent many times over in the first year itself.
