With the most revered Himalayan shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi getting devotes from across the world, the process of donations has been made easier by the shrine board in collaboration with a private bank.
"Devotees from around the world will now find it easier to make online donations to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir with the shrine board and the HDFC bank on Tuesday signing an agreement on the matter", said Dr Arun Kumar, Chief Executive Officer. Earlier Kumar and HDFC country operations head A Rajan signed an agreement here for providing a reliable online system, an official release said.

The air traffic security concerns once again came to the focus today as six devotees had a narrow escape when a chopper carrying them to the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi made an emergency landing midway.
While all the passengers were safe, the authorities have launched a probe to ascertain the causes of snag. "We have to find out whether the chopper number of engines required for flying on this route", said an official of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The chopper was operated by Himalayan Hill Service Aviation company.

A Pilot of Himalayan Chopper Service and six other passengers, including two children, had a miraculous escape in a chopper crash landing near Katra helipad this afternoon. Reports reaching here revealed that as soon as the chopper with six passengers hailing from Noida, Delhi took off at about 1315 hrs. from Katra helipad for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji, the engine of the chopper developed some technical snag and the chopper crash landed in the open fields near helipad resulting into injuries to the passengers.

There was a narrow escape for the Himalayan Hill Service passengers who were on their way to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine for having Darshan today by helicopter.

Chief Secretary, B. R. Kundal today presented to Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad the enquiry report on the alleged irregularities in the State Forest Corporation.
The Government had ordered a high level enquiry into the alleged irregularities in the State Forest Corporation including creation of artificial scarcity of timber in the State to facilitate import of timber by the State Forest Corporation through a middleman.
Mr. Kundal, the then Financial Commissioner, Home had been appointed as the Enquiry Officer vide Government Order No. 475-FST of 2007 dated 12-09-2007.
