| After being denied justice people lose hope with grievance cell as well | | No substantial results achieved even after five years | | | Jehangir Rashid
SRINAGAR, Feb 20: With much pomp and show Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah announced the formation of a grievance cell to solve the day to day problems of the people. However, five years down the lane the cell has become a useless tool with hardly a grievance being addressed and then redressed.
Scores of persons have been disillusioned with this exercise since they have not got justice at the end of the day. People have written letters to the Chief Minister and also emailed their grievances with the hope that there would be some light at end of tunnel, but the passage continues to be bleak.
On July 21 last year, Tariq Ahmad Shah presently residing at Jawahar Nagar here wrote a letter to Chief Minister about the misuse of official position by Abdul Majid Bhat, Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Agro Industries. Majid has misused his position and helped his brother in law Mohammad Ashraf Budoo to encroach upon a 12 feet lane on the Dr. Ali Jan road enroute Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura.

JAMMU, Feb 20: Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar may claim to be a tough Minister but officials of the department especially those involved in the construction of Panchayat Ghars have seemingly little regard for his repeated announcements and pronouncements.
Sagar had claimed in an official handout released on March 18, 2013 that Panchayat Ghars across the State would be completed by September 2013 but status report which the department had annexed with the reply to question of National Conference (NC) leader Dr. Shehnaz Ganai reveals a dismal picture. SRINAGAR, Feb 20: Though the Government over stretched itself to cover up its financial mis-management through jugglery of figures while presenting the Budget-2014 a few days back in the State Legislature, the balance sheet of pending liabilities of J&K on various accounts has presented a gloomy state of State's economy, contrary to the rosy picture painted by the Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather.
The liabilities of J&K are on the constant rise with each passing year which completely negates the Government's claims that finances of the state are in good shape.
In reply to a question tabled by MLA Prof Chaman Lal Gupta in the State Legislative Assembly here today, the G...

If the statement made by the Finance Ministry in response to a cut-motion moved by a legislator during the discussion on the grants for the department day before yesterday is any indication, then it can be said that the State Government might not implement its February 1, 2014 decision on new administrative units.
According to the statement, the State Government has kept an "adhoc" provision of a paltry Rs five crore in the budget for the next year for the establishment of 659 new administrative units in Jammu and Kashmir. "The Finance Department has...

Jammu, Feb 20 : It is a typical case of political influence over and above the directions of Chief Minister in J&K .

Messy surroundings on account of unauthorized car parking was cleared soon after the directions came from CM who also happens to be Chairman of the Heritage Society and it gave the monument some grac...
