| Rahi's 'pro active' community role | | Govt mum over 'activism' of yet another official | | | early times report
Jammu, Feb 24: Yet another gala function that was organized at Gujjar Centre for Cultural Heritage- GDCT here 3 days back, kept an activist wearing many hats -Javed Rahi in the front role to vociferously raise demand, this time for the youth of the Gujjar community to which he belongs. Having affiliations with many such bodies, Rahi in fact steers the cause while keeping himself in the centrestage and prominence, apparently to have a complete command over the issues vital to Gujjars. That is, however, not the point in focus or reference. The fact remains Javed Rahi is a senior Gazzeted officer working with J&K Cultural Academy and by all standards a government employee who keeps himself engaged in such activism most of the time. The question for his otherwise enviable role in such activities arises that is this permissible under rules and norms laid in service for those working as government officials , that too in a senior capacity.
As in most of the occasions in past, in today's function too ,Rahi remained in close proximity ironically with Minister, poli...

| | | | Debate on Guru's body in LA | | Congress in a fix | | | Neha
JAMMU, Feb 24: As of now it is difficult to predict if the to-be-elected-Speaker of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly would allow a debate on resolution seeking handing over of the body of executed Kashmiri terrorist to his family. It all depends on what stand the NC, which is leading the state government in collaboration with the Congress party, ultimately takes on the very sensitive issue.
It is, however, true that many NC leaders, including the Chief Minister, his father and uncle and at least two NC MPs, are on record having demanded the return of Guru's body to his family members.

| | | | Is BJP really divisive? | | Congress and Article 370 | | | Rustam
JAMMU, Feb 24: Is Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) really divisive? Yes, according to Kashmir-based Congress leader and AICC member Abdul Gani Vakil, the BJP is divisive and anti-Kashmir.
Why does Vakil contemptuously dismiss the BJP as a divisive and anti-Kashmir outfit? Because the BJP wants the centre to remove Article 370 from the Indian statue book believing that this Article has harmed the state and not done it any good; because the BJP wants the State of Jammu & Kashmir to be at par with other states of the Union; because the BJP wants the people of the state to enjoy equal rights with other Indians under the Indian Constitution; because the BJP believes that Article 370 has, in...
