Srinagar, April 19: Accusing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of joining hands with the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) to abolish the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, former Chief Minister and National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah, on Sunday said that BJP- and PDP had stuck a deal to bring Jagmohan back to the Valley.
“BJP and PPD have joined hands to bring Jagmohan as governor of the state. BJP wants to abolish Article 370 and PPD has promised support to them in exchange of monetary benefits,” Senior Abdullah said, while addressing a rally at Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Sunday.
“Lal Krishan Advani has given funds to PDP for their support over these issues,” he added.
NC President said that former Chief Minister and PDP, Patron, Mufti Mohammad Syed has always played divisive politics for his personal interests. He said it was none other than Mufti who created hurdles in the accord that was signed by him and late Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi in 1987.

| NHRC seeks status report in Anara probe | | | |
New Delhi, April 19: NHRC has directed Jammu and Kashmir police to submit status report of the investigation in the sensational porn-video case of 2004 allegedly involving former Miss Jammu Anara Gupta.
The Commission also asked the state police chief to submit, by middle of May, a copy of the order of the Jammu Chief Judicial Magistrate which had rejected the final investigation report submitted by the Crime Branch in the matter and had directed for "further investigation" of the case by a Special Invetigating Team (SIT).

Srinagar, Apr 19: The Opposition PDP on Saturday day lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India against the ruling National Conference for allegedly violating the model code of conduct (MCC) by misusing official machinery during electioneering in the state.
"I am enclosing herewith a picture of a state police vehicle decorated with flags of the ruling National Conference. Jammu ,April 19 : There is about nine percent increase in the overall literacy rate of Jammu and Kashmir with Jammu district leading the way with 77.02 percent, suggests the government figures based on the latest survey conducted by directorate of Economics and Statistics.
Official sources told that in 2008, the state literacy rate registered 64.18 percent compared to 54.46 in 2001.
