The PDP has won and the Congress has lost as far as the issue of allowing Governor, S. K. Sinha, to continue till the end of the Assembly election, due in October. Mufti Mohammed Sayeed had his say and Wednesday proved to be his day when a statement from the Rashtrapati Bhawan announced that the President of India had appointed N. N. Vohra, a former bureaucrat, as successor of Sinha. Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's support to S. K. Sinha did not carry any weight.
In fact the PDP leadership had been gunning for Sinha for the last over two years. It was no longer a secret that the relations between the Mufti and Sinha had remained sore during the last over four years. The reason for it was the duration proposed by the

Withdrawing the recently introduced paid priority darshan system, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board today decided to scrap all modes of priorities for out of queue darshan at the Holy Cave Shrine.
Announcing this here this afternoon, after interacting with the Committee set up to examine the issue, Governor and Chairman, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Lt. General (Retd) S K Sinha said the system had been introduced on experimental basis. However, respecting the popular demand, it has been decided to dispense with all sorts of priorities including the paid ones, he added.

All Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare Association has called off its state wide indefinite strike after the state government's assurance to hike passenger fares by 14 percent and withdrawal of other taxes including service tax, passenger welfare tax etc within a week.

Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh will visit the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir on June 15, an official spokesman here said today.
''The BJP president will be visiting Jammu to address 'Satta Parivartan Rally' of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on June 15," official sources told the sources adding, "Mr Singh will address the rally on June 15 besides national executive meetings of BJYM, which will be held on June 14.'' Kashmir valley will get its first train service later in June and the train begun its trial run on Thursday. Senior railway officials are present for the trial run of the 55-km long Anantnag-Kakapora-Badgam track.
