SRINAGAR, Jun 27: Political and bureaucratic godfathers of aspirants have been in a tug-of-war to install their blue-eyed boys on the top position of Vice Chancellor at Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) (Awantipore) Kashmir. With two successive Chancellors, N N Vohra and Omar Abdullah, failing to take decision over the appointment of a new VC, retired incumbent Sidique Wahid has already overstayed for nine months. Regular academic activity, including research and expansion programmes of the University, has consequently suffered.
Even as IUST’s founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was proactively visible to engineer Prof Sidique Wahid’s extension for two years these days last year, his political adversaries---including then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad---were keen to appoint a new head for the University. Jammu, June 27: Popularly known as the ‘SMS poet’ for his recent book, Union Humar Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal’s idea of abolishing class ten examinations is being hotly debated in Jammu and Kashmir but the state wants him to do some more home work.

In an interview to a private television channel, Musharraf said that he and the then India Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee had even agreed to draft a joint declaration regarding the Kashmir issue, but blamed New Delhi for ditching Islamabad at the last moment.
