Going from bad to worse, the situation today further deteriorated across the region as angry protestors openly defied curfew restrictions to continue protests, demonstrations and vandalism of public property. Rapid Action Force had to be deployed in some sensitive areas of the western parts of city where more than a 1000 strong mob outnumbered the cops.
More than 100 people have been reported injured, with six of them critically, and around six dozen protesters and their leaders have been taken into custody for inciting communal passions.

The flames of fire emanating out of the forest land controversy in Jammu and Kashmir today spread across the region with dozens of North India major cities observing a shut down on a call Bhartiya Janta Party and Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Protests and demonstrations rocked the cities and at least two persons have been reported killed in communal clashed as activists of BJP and VHP enforced a shut down.
Meanwhile, the central government is watching situation and has pushed in additional deployment of CRPF to assist the Jammu and Kashmir Police in containing violence.

Elderly Kashmiri Pandit women today became target of cops chasing the mob fury as tear gas shells were thrown into the residential houses in Durga Nagar area of Talab Tillo.
Eye witnesses said that a heavy contingent of Police while chasing the mobsters barged into a locality in Durga Nagar mostly housing the Kashmir Pandit families and threw teargas shells. Though the residential houses were not the actual target of the Police but the unintended shells caused injuries to the inmates.

There is one good news and one bad news: the good news is that the power supply which went off late last night due to fire incident at Gladni Grid station was restored in a record time and electricity was on early this morning. And the bad news is that crisis in the transmission system is too deep which has forces the Power Development Department to resort to power cuts ranging from 10 hours to 12 hours in different localities on rotational basis.
