• PM’s 18 member delegation fails to break ice
• SAYSS stays firm at land, recall of Governor
• Both sides agreed to keep engaged in dialogue
• Shut down, agitation, protests to continue
Much on the expected lines, the ostentatious delegations of top political leaders of the country constituted by the Prime Minister of India, failed to break ice on the Shri Amarnath Shrine land issue, as Jammu vehemently asserted its position and refused to make any compromise.
The historic delegation reflecting composite political culture of the country and led by Home Minister Shivraj Patil had come to Jammu to talk to the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti for seeking an amicable resolution of the ongoing agitation. Leaders of all major political parties drawn from ruling and opposition groups were part of delegation.
At the end of the day long deliberations, it clearly came out that the talks have failed even as both parties –the delegation and the Samiti –vowed to carry forward the dialogue. However, the agitation will continue till a final ...

Jammu | Aug 9
Three top Kashmir based political leaders including former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, Congress leader and Union Minister Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti today had to eat a humble pie as the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti refused to talk to the visiting all party central delegation in their presence.
After a daylong of confusion, the Samiti joined the talks table only when the trio was eased out of the delegation.

Jammu | Aug 9
Ahead of the arrival of central team, the state government had probably wanted to put a picture of town as all was well. So, they ensured that there is none on the other streets, of course, except camouflaged soldiers, to make any noise on the streets.
In literal terms, it was a grand curfew where even birds could not ruffle the feathers. But, who on earth can stop the angry Jammuites –they ruffled their feathers, flocked to the streets and showed their presence to the visiting team despite being shrilled by the barbed wire.
Despite strict restrictions and soldiers dotting almost every yard, protesters in the town came out on the streets when an al...

Jammu | Aug 9
It is understandable that the situation in Jammu is tense and it needs precautionary restrictions in shape of curfew and other curbs on movement, but on whose mercy are the hundreds of patients in various government and private hospitals of the city.
Various hospitals and nursing homes across the city, including the prestigious Government Medical College Hospital, the all-important SMGS Hospital and the private ASCOMS Hospital are running, if not empty, terribly short of doctors and paramedical staff. Worse still, even hundreds of patients ailing badly and seeking an immediate medical care have not been able to reach the hospitals.
The authorities, in las...
