Competitive Kashmir politics on Amarnath Yatra again….? | NC, separatists rake up 'environment ploy' in opposing proposals | | early times report
Jammu, Aug 17: Even as the holy Amarnath Yatra this year has concluded on a reaffirming note from the SASB that it would provide augmented facilities for pilgrims in future and at the same time take full care of environmental issues, the annual pilgrimage has once again become the centre of controversy with ruling National Conference and separatists this time indulging in a competitive race and scoring points in opposing proposals that can facilitate the Yatra and offer some relief to pilgrims on arduous tracks. Reacting promptly, BJP has, however, contested both on the points, it says have logical arguments.
After NC's MP, GN Rattanpuri raked it up with stiff opposition to any move granting extension in the period of pilgrimage, Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today cautioned the government against converting the track leading to the holy Amarnath Cave into a permanent road and contended any such step would not only lead to felling of lakhs of lush green forest trees, but could also lead to environmental imbalance in the area."...

In CM's Ganderbal, healthy gal bladder same as swollen appendix for doctors | | | early times report
Srinagar, Aug 17: The shocking incident of doctors at SDH Ganderbal removing the gall bladder of a patient instead of the appendix for whose inflammation she had been admitted is yet another tragedy in the continuing saga of pain and suffering for the people of the Valley.
BMO Ganderbal has tried to cool tempers by saying that a "high level inquiry has already been ordered into the incident." This statement has only added insult to the injury suffered by the woman who lost her gall bladder to the callousness of the doctors and proves that the healthcare sector of the Valley needs an immediate overhaul.
The BMO is just a block level medical officer and it is difficult t...

| | Separatists non-serious hypocrites but what about leadership of NC? | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Aug 17: National Conference (NC) has begun trumpeting itself as the greatest proponent of peace and tranquility in Jammu and Kashmir. This runs contrary to their murky past especially the period from 1985 to 1989.
NC has lambasted separatist leaders for their self-indulgent and juvenile statements. But failed to ask questions about the statements of its leaders. They too speak like ignorant people, oblivious of the things happening around. National Conference statement quoted the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as saying that "Let us achieve through dialogue what you could not achieve with guns-a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. Let you come forward and talk for ach...

Srinagar, Aug17: The idea of economic self reliance envisaged by Agriculture Minister and Chairman J&K Democratic Party Nationalist, Ghulam Hasan Mir has invoked a fresh debate with people from different shades responding to the idea in their own way and style. Though separatist leaders and ruling National Conference were the first to react to the idea, however, from separatist to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah nobody rejected the idea completely but could not support it too.
Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hasan Mir on Friday made it abundantly clear that he stands by what he said on August 9 and urged the people of the state to give a serious thought to...

JAMMU, Aug 17: The nation celebrates August 15 as Independence Day across the country with great pomp and show and takes a solemn pledge to defend the country's unity and territorial integrity and watch and further promote her sovereign interests. In fact, the nation remembers all those heroes and valiant soldiers who made supreme sacrifices for the national cause and achieved for the country political redemption. | | Accession empowered Kashmir to exploit Jammu and Ladakh | Ungrateful Valley | | NEHA
JAMMU, Aug 17: On August 14 and 15, no Kashmiri hailed the decision of Maharaja Hari Singh to accede his State of Jammu & Kashmir to the Indian Dominion. They should have, but they didn't do so. They should have hailed the decision because it was the state's accession to India that enabled Kashmiri leadership to exercise extraordinary legislative, executive and financial powers; and establish its hegemony not only over Kashmir but also over Jammu and Ladakh and exploit them socially, economically and politically. How ungrateful is the Kashmiri leadership!
It did not hail the decision for obvious reasons. One of the reasons is that it doesn't consider India their country in the real s...
| | Finding it hard to infiltrate ultras, Pak-based outfits ask militants in J&K to do something big | | | BHARAT BHUSHAN
JAMMU, Aug 17: In the past less than one month, almost every Pak bid to infiltrate militants into J&K has failed. It, however, suffered the biggest blow on July 28 last following the detection of a tunnel in Samba sub-sector when it was almost ready for use as a secret infiltration route.
"Despite the international pressure on it to close down the terror shops on its soil, Pakistan continues to use backdoor methods to keep the pot boiling in J&K," a senior BSF officer said.
"Probably driven to despair after the tunnel detection, Pakistan has so far fired on seven occasions on the IB and the LoC but every time it failed to push militants into the state under the cover of it...
