Et Report

Srinagar, Oct 3 : The National Conference senior leader Mustafa Kamaal today said that he completely agrees with the separatist Leader, Syed Ali Geelani wherein the later had stated that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is not a free man and Army uses Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) as shield against its human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kamal said that he agrees with Geelani when he says the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is not a freeman. "Omar is not a freeman but bound by the law.
However, there has always been carrot and the stick policy of Delhi here."
He asked that if senior RJD leader Lalu Prasad is jailed, how long shall the troops, involved in human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, think that they shall be shielded. The NC leader said it is unfortunate that the pro-freedom camp of valley has rejected Judicial inquiry into Shopian killings, terming the move ''opposition for the sake of opposition''.
"They always have personal grudges against National Conference and they (separatists) have turned blind eye towards every constructive role of the state Government," Kamaal said adding that if separatists cannot go for constructive criticism, they should at least not indulge into baseless allegations.
"What should Omar do? I want to ask the separatist leaders who point fingers towards Omar," Kamaal said. He further mentioned that the enquiry in Shopian killings a welcome step saying that he wants culprits be brought to justice.
When asked about the ongoing protests of employees over the fulfillment of their pending demands with the government, Kamaal said that he opposes the enhancement of the retirement age from 58 to 60 years.
"Rs 14000 Crores are being spent on the salaries of the employees and I wonder why they want enhancement in their retirement age." "They should stop taking salary from the government when they are not performing their duties," Kamaal said adding that the protests by employees' effect common people and employees leaders should stop 'self centric attitude'.
