Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 3: An officer of the rank of DySP among three police officers were recommended for police medals for the act of gallantry they even did not know of. Informed sources said that Samba police have recommended for medals for three police officers for the recovery of the weapons along International Border at Ghagwal a couple of days ago. Deplorably, the Janbaanz police brought ignominy to their department as the medals they claimed for recovery of cache was infact made by VDC members. Sources said that the Village Defence Committee members recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including three AK-47 rifles and a grenade launcher with grenades, one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) with six UBGL grenades, four hand grenades, improvised explosives in four bottles, a 9 mm pistol and magazines, near the army camp in Samba where militants had attacked killing four army men including a Lt. Col. However, the same was claimed by the police department and accordingly, the names of three police officers including a DySP. Meanwhile several attempts to contact SSP Samba Israr Khan for his comment went vain. |
