Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 3: The lurking fear on the face of Tara Devi and Babita Devi is a clear indication that members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) have let loose a reign of terror in Kishtwar. The SIT was constituted by the State Government to inquire infamous Kishtwar riots of August 9 but instead of properly investigating the riots, members of the SIT seem to be more particular about pleasing their political bosses. Tara Devi is mother and Babita Devi is sister of Ajay Kumar, a 16 years old minor boy, who has been brutally tortured by the SIT members. It was result of this torture that Ajay Kumar was referred to GMC Jammu from Kishtwar in critical condition. "To please their political bosses SIT members have brutally tortured my son without any reason", alleged sobbing Tara Devi and informed that for the last one week, SIT members were calling Ajay every day in their office for "questioning". Both the women alleged that not only Ajay Kumar, but a number of innocent youth belong to minority community have been implicated in false cases just to settle score with minority community. "SIT members with the connivance of local police have let loose a reign of terror in Kishtwar especially to target youth of minority community to demoralize this community", Tara Devi said and alleged that terrorizing minority was part of the nefarious designs to force migration of this community. "What terrorists can not do in one decade, State Government with the help of cops has been trying to do?", she said and aired apprehension that if no check was imposed on such action of SIT members, minority community will start migration, she observed. Tara Devi, who appeared quite shattered and wrecked, said that she would face the official bias with courage as the entire minority community was at the back and call of her family in this hour of difficulty. She also urged the concerned authorities to direct the local authorities in Kishtwar to desist from falsely implicating innocent youth. Meanwhile, senior BJP leaders including Nirmal Singh and Professor Hari Om, who were also accompanying the victim's family members demanded CBI probe into the incident. |
