Udhampur, Oct 3: Continuing its drive against bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police arrested three smugglers and rescued 15 animals. Based on reliable information, a police party from Udhampur Police Station, led by Inspector Deepak Jasrotia laid a surprise naka on the National Highway near Jakheni in the wee hours and intercepted one truck (JK02AA-7540), which was on its way from Jammu towards Kashmir. During the thorough search, four bovine animals were found packed inside this vehicle. Police arrested the accused smuggler Zakir Hussian of Manor Gopal, Samba and rescued the animals. In another case, a Police party from Chenani led by Inspector Kewal Kishore Gupta laid a surprise naka near Chenani Top on National Highway and intercepted one vehicle (JK02AJ-6304) and rescued 11 bovine animals. The accused smugglers Abdul Majid of Narwal bypass Jammu and Nazir Ahmed of Mahgam, Kukarnag, Anantnag were arrested on the spot and bovine animals were rescued. The vehicle used was also seized. |
