Early Times Report KATHUA, Oct 8: People Democratic Party (PDP) leader Anil Singh urged the district administration to compensate the farmers against the loss caused to paddy crops due to untimely heavy rains recently. As per press release, Singh said that the areas of Andhad, Nagari, Jakhbar, Kokhyal, Sumoa Padyari, Mirpuri Ram, Jarai, Kharkra are the most affected areas where maximum loss caused. He said these farmers have already been facing lot of problems related to farming while on the other hand they have no other source of livelihood. Due to lack of proper procurement facility center in these areas, private buyers are forcing them to sell their paddy on cheaper rates. He demanded that farmers have been facing huge loss in recent time due to rains, and flood. More than 200 houses and more than many hundreds of hectares agriculture land lost due to the rains and soil erosion due to flash floods in Nagari area and other areas of Andhad belts in Kathua. All the assessments have been lying in the offices of administration and government, he demanded the compensations should be released as soon as possible so that some burden of farmers' problems could be reduced up to some extent. |
