| Migrant engineer thrashed by BDO at Kangan | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 8: A migrant engineer in Rural Development Department was yesterday thrashed by none other than his immediate officer BDO Kangan in his office chamber. The incident has evoked a large scale resentment especially among Kashmiri Pandit Organisations at Jammu who demanded a thorough probe into the matter and action against the erring officer. Sources said that an altercation took place between the duo in their office chamber yesterday and the BDO losing his temper gave a good thrashing to his subordinate engineer who has been posted under PM’s employment package in RDD Kangan. The migrant engineer reported the matter to Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and Director RDD Kashmir. The matter was also brought into the notice of Mian Altaf Minister of Forest who represents Kangan constituency in State Assembly with increasing attacks on migrants in valley. The employees working under PM’s package feel scared. Earlier two KP contractors were thrashed by an engineer of Tourism Development Corporation at Sonamarg and residential migrant quarters at Haal Pulwama were stoned twice by frenzy mob. Besides a temple was attacked at Handwara last month by miscreants while migrants putting up at Sheetal Nath Temple were also forced to flee from valley by anti social elements. The incident has evoked a sharp criticism from migrant organisations who raise a question mark on PM’s return package. Dr. Ajay Chrungoo Chairman PK said it is not an isolated incident but migrants are being repeatedly attacked in valley. He ridiculed Governments return formula saying when an officer thrashes his subordinate employee in presence of entire staff what can be expected from a common man in Kashmir. He reiterated his demand that migrant employees be posted outside valley. KPC Chief Kundan Kashmiri while criticising the attack said how Government can ensure security of migrant employees when the officers holding an important position attack them. He demanded action against BDO immediately.
