Taj’s rally at Uri turns to be a flop show, mere 300 turn up at venue

Srinagar, Oct 8: Senior Congress leader and Minister for Medical Education, Taj Mohiudin needs may have to do lot of introspection to find out why people stayed away from his rally last Sunday at Kamalkote in his Uri constituency in North Kashmir. Eyewitnesses told Early Times that the congress leader representing Uri constituency in the state legislature, Taj Mohiuddin had asked his workers to organize a grand show in the Kamalkote area of his constituency. Taj reportedly asked his workers to make announcements on loud speaker fixed vehicles that Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, AICC General Secretary in/charge Jammu and Kashmir, Ambika Soni and PCC President, Professor Saifudin Soz will address the public rally at Kamalkote on October 6.
Congress workers of Uri constituency were hard-pressed to ensure that the event turned out to be a grand show.
The Kamalkote rally of Taj on Sunday touted to be a befitting response to his Rivals’ meetings in the same area did not come any close to the expectations of the Congress stalwart as a mere 2 to 3 hundred people tuned up for the rally.
“The public rally which was to be addressed by Taj Mohiudin at Kamalkote ended up in a flop show as no one turned up to attend it,” an eyewitness told Early Times.
“No one coming forward to attend the gathering despite the announcements made by the workers of Taj that Azad, Soni and Soz were to address the meeting proved that people are fed up of Taj who is facing serious charges of corruption and land grabbing” said a local leader.
He said, “Sunday’s flop show should serve as an eye opener for Taj and he should carry out a thorough introspection. Taj needs to realize that hollow promises are not enough to feed people.” “People have lost faith in Taj and he cannot take them for a ride anymore” he added.
“Around 80 vehicles were pressed into service to take people to the rally venue from all parts of the constituency, but most of them returned empty” an eye witness said.
