Abducted boy found dead in abandoned house, massive protests registered; police accused of inaction

Rajouri, Oct 8 : It was a heart breaking scene when the mother of a 7-year- old boy took out the body of her son from a bag inside the mortuary of district hospital which was packed in it after he got killed by his kidnapper today.
At about 3 p.m relatives took the body of the deceased from the mortuary and after raising slogans against senior police officers including SHO kept the body at Gujjar Mandi chowk and staged protest against police for its complete failure to trace the kidnapped boy.
Protestors alleged negligence /failure on part of police as the body was recovered from a house in Bhela colony in ward No2 which was locked from out side and about 200 meters from the residences and offices of DIG, SSP and deputy commissioner. The house is situated about 500 meters from a specified bus stop where the boy was dropped by the school bus driver.
"Had the police searched the whole Bhela colony situated near the house of the deceased, he would have been saved. It was due to the negligence of police that the boy was killed by the kidnapper/kidnappers" said the family members.
"Immediately after the complaint was lodged by the father of the deceased, police lodged a FIR and swung into action. Alert was sounded to the concerned SHOs on the roads leading to Jammu, Poonch, Srinagar and Jammu," said Mubassar Latifi district SP. Shalik Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmed, a patwari and a resident of Kheora was a student of second class in the Army Valley View Public school.On Monday when he did not reach home in the evening after schooling, his family approached the school authorities and were told that he was dropped at the specified place by the school bus. His parents started a search and were joined by police and personnel of army unit looking after the affairs of the school.
According to preliminary investigation the boy was first strangulated by the kidnappers and after his death his hands and feet were tied with the same rope and packed in a cloth bag. The shoes and the school bag was also kept inside the bag by the killer. The bag was left inside the abandoned house locked from outside by the owner identified as Mohd Iqbal resident of Tarkashi.
Police said that Mohd Iqbal came to Rajouri today after 7 days and saw the bag. When he opened the bag he saw the body and called Mohd Rouf his neighborer and retired CRPF personnel who informed the police control room.
Varinder Gupta , SHO reached the spot and seized the bag and body and took it to hospital for legal formalities.
The protesters after getting assurance from FC Bhagat , DDC and Mubassar Latifi, district SP that a seven member committee of honest police officers of their choice will be framed to investigate the brutal murder , handed over the body to police for further legal action.
The body after postmortem and legal formalities was handed over to the family members at about 6pm in the evening.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the similar way a 10th class student identified as Mohd Arif son of Mohd Sadiq resident of Kheora was found murdered on July,20 in and his body was also dumped under the stairs of a room inside the sports stadium about half kilometer from the spot from where the body of the boy was recovered today.
Police has started investigation and involvement of some local criminals to extract money from the father of the deceased boy was also not ruled out by the SSP.
